more handmade roses and some layouts

I've been plugging away at the birthday album, and I couldn't resist making some more of those paper roses I talked about in my last post. Here's what I've been up to:



I'm starting to run out of ideas for different things to try with my canvas pages. Hmmm, maybe I'll just cover the rest of them with handmade roses! Here's some more of my pages:



I'm spending the weekend at home with my sick kitties. They all have colds (except Princess). The vet says they're fine, but that it could take up to a month for them to get better. It's hard listen to their snotty little breathing and not really being able to do much about it. I have a nasal spray that I'm giving them, but they're not very appreciative of it. Hopefully, it is doing some good, not only do I want them to get better, but I'm tired of having 'sneeze' on my arm and face. Ick!

Inspired

Donna Downey's Inspired workshop was held in Charlotte this week. Although I was not able to attend the main workshops because of a work conflict, I did get a chance to take a couple of the mini-workshops on Friday night (and do a little shopping as well!). I took one class from Jenni Bowlin. She gave us some antique album pages to make into a portfolio collage. I'll post more about that later (when I finish my project). My second class of the night was with a woman named Stephanie Ackerman. What a fun lady! And she taught us a paper rose technique that is absolutely FAB-YOU-LOUS!!!! Now, keep in mind that this is my first effort at making these roses. I expect to improve as I make more of them (and make more of them I most certainly will). Believe me, they were just the funnest things to create! Everyone at the advent was so fun, I wish I could have been there for everything. As it was, the drive to CHarlotte from my work conference in Raleigh was long, and the drive home late, late that night was even longer, but it was soooo worth it! I hope this event returns to Charlotte next year, and I hope I have the time/funds to return (and maybe even go to the whole thing).

Confessions of a Glimmer Mist, inking, and flower addict

Last week I was playing around on the Two Peas Website
and I decided to make a layout for a couple of the challenges I found there. One of the challenges I chose was from Vinnie Pearce's Lift This! challenge. My efforts have forced me to come to a sad, sad conclusion: I am hopelessly addicted to flowers, glimmer mist, and inks. The original layout was a beautifully simple one. So what did I do? Added lots of all three of the above-mentioned items, of course. I tried to convince myself to make just ONE simple, clean layout. But I. just. couldn't. do. it. Sigh. I suppose that admitting I have a problem is the first step. Perhaps now I should find a support group. Distressers Anonymous, or Ink Addicts Can Change. OR, I could just embrace my disease. And ask my friends to love me, ink-stained hands and all.
